Andalucía Trip, October 2014

Written by El Casal de Barcelona on . Posted in Blog

This fall, for the first time, El Casal included a 4-day, 3-night trip to Sevilla and Córdoba in Andalucía, southern Spain. For many of our gappers in previous semesters, Andalucía had been a little too far away or a little too expensive for a long-weekend trip.

We thought that no one should leave Spain after three months without having seen this beautiful and intriguing land which was ruled by Arabs and Moors for over 700 years, so we’ve incorporated it into our program.

A feature of El Casal since its inception in 2004, the 120-kilometer hike along the Camino de Santiago, gives our gap year students the chance to experience another part of Spain at a slow pace, backpacking about 13 miles a day for five days.

The gap year students of Fall 2014 hail from all across the US —New York, Massachusetts, Oregon and California— plus one from South Korea, which is a real treat for us. Seven boys and one girl may sound lopsided, but it’s working!
